Labels and Categories
A category is the part of the home a ticket concerns. A label says what kind of ticket it is, or its topic.
Categories
A ticket has one category or none. Select Add Category on a ticket, or select its category pill to change it.
Manage Categories (the ⋮ menu, administrators only) creates, renames, changes the icon of and deletes categories. Deleting a category leaves its tickets uncategorised. Home Assistant is built in and locked.
Categories you might add: Network, Cameras, Lighting, Heating and Cooling, Energy, Appliances and Security and Access. Use whatever matches how your own home is divided up.
Labels
A label has a name, a colour, and an optional icon and description. The colours are Home Assistant's own colour names, so they follow the theme. A ticket can have any number.
Built-in labels are locked: they cannot be renamed, recoloured or deleted.
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Bug | Something is not working. |
| Enhancement | An idea for later. |
| Task | Something to do. |
| Question | Something to find out. |
| Blocked | Waiting on a person, a part or a fix. |
| History | A record of past work. Hidden from lists unless requested. |
Manage Labels (the ⋮ menu) creates, edits and deletes the rest. Renaming keeps tickets labelled. Deleting removes the label from every ticket, after a confirmation that gives the count.
Typing a label that does not exist onto a ticket creates it, with a colour picked automatically. Names match case-insensitively.
A suggested scheme is a system label (Home Assistant, Network, Media), topic labels (Zigbee, Lighting, Automations, Cameras) and workflow labels (Needs review, Monitoring). Nothing enforces it.
